![]() There's just no way the belly pan will fit around the OEM exhaust. But, I don't love them in that they are way stronger than bodywork, and do tear it up pretty bad in a crash vs. They don't vibrate out, in a crash the flex, bend, twist and even give, saving your bodywork, and they just generally work well.Īs for quarter-turns, I use the milspec stuff ( ) since it's possible to get the fit-up just right. What I have had good luck with, and use extensively, are nylon fasteners for bodywork. ![]() I haven't had good luck with them, they either get rubbed through by the glass or the edges stress fracture the bodywork. We? Could you please elaborate on your experience? I saw on another board that a lot of track guys use zip ties instead of Dzus fasteners. Really nice Jeff good job my friend and that color of paint really stands out. If your kit has the wrong bolts send him and email so he can fix it up for you.Īs completed - ended up using Dzus for belly mount.ĩ/16" lath screws to mount pod inlets and factory hardware for (4) pod mounting points. Pete sent me an email and said some people got 7/8 inch bolts in error. Need to find a black set of plastics next to work on the new color scheme Still need to add belly pan but its been a busy weekend. (Message edited by Stirz007 on May 23, 2011) Curious, though, did anyone use the cone washers and still get a good fit? Looks like I'll end up using Dzus unless I can find some cam locks just a hair longer. After painting, they were too tight and I ended up stripping out a couple of the screw slots trying to get that last bit of turn to lock them down. Just my opinion, others will differ.Įdit: The cam-locks worked fine during dry-fit (without cone washers). $70 seemed spendy to me, but I bought one thinking I was going to get more. The rest of the hardware I had laying around my shop.īut- with that said, to each his own. As you can tell from my post, I only used the cam-locks (and only 6 of the 7 provided). GeForce - Not really, IMO - especially since they sent the wrong length 1/4"-20 screws. I need to double-check that silver clip doesn't extend past new uppers - I can either file it down or just paint it black - race bike, not show bike.Īdd rubber washer if you need to get a snug fit with new outers. Trim the upper plastic to provide a flat top surface and relieve the lip of the inner pod so holes line up. Sharp utility knife is all that's needed. With a little modification, this seems to work fine (and one less wrench needed to remove lowers) - sorry if a bit out of focus, but I think the general idea will come across. Just masking off first color now so I can shoot second today.Īnother trick: Instead of using GSD hardware for 'top of pod' mounts, I used the factory hardware. ![]() is it worth the 70 bucks?ĭoes the kit provide you with all the brackets and fasteners needed to complete the install?īob - will need to let paint dry at least until tomorrow before I mount back up.
